Kurumipan for the win~

Kurumipan for the win~

In the end the few days became more than a week, because my last week was incredibly busy. I decided to move, and there was all kinds of excitement with that. I decided on a flat, though it’s still not 100%, and it will make my next month busy and expensive orz There’s no way around it, so yeah. Anyway, today I finally finish off July, and hopefully I can also post August soon. Anyway, let’s return to summer for now…

07/15-16 Monday-Tuesday
My Monday wasn’t interesting at all, just the usual school-slavery, and I was busy enough with studying and working that nothing interesting happened to me. On Tuesday I saw the small green birds playing in the trees at the campus. I wanted to take a photo, but they were just too fast, too small and too green – impossible to find them in the trees ^^;

I didn’t have food at home, so I eat out for lunch, and I was craving falafel for a change. Falafel and eggplant paste, so I went to Falafel Garden of course, and it was delicious. In the afternoon I had my class at Seika. After that I dropped by the Takaragaike Book Off after a long while – somehow I rarely visit it anymore, some genres traded places on the shelves since then too. I found some books I wanted, but they looked quite shabby already, so I decided to check out the store every other week at least, so I wouldn’t miss the new books while they still look okay. On the way home I saw some gorgeous colors and clouds in the sky, and it was the best ending for this long day.

07/17-19 Wednesday-Friday
Although I had my free day, I had to stay at home to learn and do my job. Regardless I had to go to the supermarket and cook lunch. I tried to make dahl for the first time in my life based on a recipe from my parents. It was very tasty, but the sauce wasn’t enough, so I decided to upgrade it a bit tomorrow. Since there was a discount on them, I decided to taste a few traditional anko sweets. I liked most of them, though I’m not really a fan of mochi. Nothing else interesting, maybe only a very loud cicada in the evening. I’m lucky, because despite being full in the summer already, at home I can only head the cicadas faintly in the background – which helps a lot to keep my sanity despite the heat. But tonight it seems one of them thought it could find a mate here and was rasping eagerly while I thought I would go mad any second. But fortunately after a while it realized there’s nothing but concrete here, so it flew away and it was peaceful once again.

My Thursday and Friday weren’t interesting at all, in the end I just tried doing what I had to and spent the afternoons in the Japanese classes. I had to do so, because I was planning to go to the shopping district on Saturday, so that means one whole day without any working and studying.

Actually there was one disturbance in the regular flow of my days: it turned out that the Monbukagakusho students had to make a speech at the end of the course, as a final exam so to speak. I remember having read about something like that in the beginning, but nobody mentioned a word about it since then, and I took a class about speeches anyway, so I thought that was it. It turned out our speeches are special, and we have to make it on the day of the closing ceremony on July 30. Of course we were shocked, because we had enough to do already, but what can you do. An on Friday there was the first meeting about this with as teacher responsible for our group. The only thing that made this whole ordeal a bit better was, that due to the speech class we all had to prepare a speech anyway, and we were allowed to re-use it at the final day – with a few adjustments of course, since one was supposed to have ppt, the other wasn’t. So after this we started preparing for both occasions.

07/20 Saturday
Today I was supposed to meet another Hungarian living is Kyoto. Before I left my country I received his contact information in case something happened, but fortunately everything went smoothly so far. Now we agreed to meet in town to at least see eachother once if we live in the same town XD; But the meeting was in the afternoon, so I had other things to do before that. In the morning I went to the supermarket, and when I wanted to get some plums at the other grocery shop I discovered some huge, delicious-looking water melon slices. Of course I had to get one, but it hardly fit into my fridge XD

I left home after lunch and did some manga shopping after arriving to the Sanjo Book Off. It has been a long time since I visited this store, but I didn’t have much time, so I just grabbed a few books on both floors I just couldn’t leave there and left. My next destination was the Manga Museum, because I wanted to buy the ballet manga book. They had other interesting books and special retro manga as well, but all of them are so expensive, I’m not sure I will get any.

After the shopping I was rushing to the meeting point which wasn’t that great in the heat and crowd. We looked for a place to sit down and drank a coffee while talking about all kinds of things – in Hungarian. It’s an unusual but great feeling to be able to speak your mother tongue while living in a foreign country ^^ Later we left the store and were just walking around the area, even in streets I didn’t notice before, and then we crossed the river to walk around the north part of Gion – it was nice~ In the evening we went our separate ways, and I returned to manga shopping: I raided Lashinbang and then the OPA Book Off. It was still hot in the evening, so I ate some ice cream waffles. Actually I wanted taiyaki, but they didn’t understand what I was saying, but it turned out all well ^^ I arrived home quite late and you can imagine just how tired I was.

07/21 Sunday
The morning was spent with cooking – it was high time to eat some tomato-eggplant sauce with rice again~ But the culinary pleasures continued in the afternoon as well, since I bought a corn which I cooked and ate from the water melon too. Both tasted great~~~

The day of fear T__T I was waking up like usual and was planning to rest till my classes in the afternoon, but when I was putting away some tool in the kitchen, once again I noticed small black things in the storage under the sink. Upon checking further something just moved in the back of the cupboard – a cockroach T__T I immediately slammed the door of the cupboard, and everything became crystal clear: my first cockroach came from the cupboard as I tended to leave open all the time. More exactly they came from the small opening next to the water pipe going from the sink into the ground orz I had no idea what to do, so I just went to get some traps and poison. I cautiously removed all the tools and boxes I use from the cupboard, placed there tons of traps, and decided to close it forever! Now I had to rethink how to store everything in the tiny kitchen without any other cupboard. Later I got more plastic holders for everything, and now I have half of my stuff in the room, half on the trolley. After this I had a long, peaceful period without any cockroaches, but after this I was quite worried for a few days.

07/12 Friday
This morning I went to the supermarket for ingredients, and was surprised to find nameko mushrooms. They generally have them shrink-wrapped, so not fresh, but this one was, so I immediately had to get it. I was curious what it tastes like if it even has its own mascot XD It’s similar to shimeji, but slimy, and this sliminess increases during frying, but it’s a good thing. I made a pörkölt (goulash) with it, and it was very tasty~~~ It was crying for some sour cream with that sliminess, but it costs a fortune here, so I can’t make gombapaprikás ;__; It was still yummy, so it’s okay. Otherwise I tried to make another microwave cake, and tried a fruit pudding type of sweets – too jelly for my taste, but it wasn’t bad. I also got another delivery from home with some additional stuff (I needed some non-fuzzy kitchen cloths orz) – and a sandal XD Actually I was looking for one here, but couldn’t find any good ones, not to mention my feet are sensitive, so I’m bad with shoes. But my parents found and sent me one, and it turned out to be very comfortable even for walking longer distances~

07/13 Saturday
Today I was planning to go to the Manga Museum to attend the opening presentation of the ballet manga exhibition. It seemed to be a rainy day, and I wasn’t happy about that, but what can you do. In the morning I went to the supermarket, and I left before midday and had lunch at Matsuontoko – it was another interesting Japanese meal with fake meat. I didn’t have much time, so after some walking around I went to the museum. The event was held by the organizers of the exhibition, and it was interesting because of the tiny tidbits, and because there was a lot of talking about older shoujo and artists of the past. I decided to buy the book with the material too, because it has interviews with retro artists, and I could need that for my research. But in the end I postponed the shopping, because it was raining and I don’t like buying books in the rain. After the talk show I wanted to see the exhibition itself as well, but I was too tired already and didn’t have the patience, so I postponed that too.

I was hungry for sweets and coffee after the event, so I checked out the café of the museum. It’s strange, because you need to buy a ticket from a vending machine and bring it to the staff. The cake and the coffee is nothing special, but if you’re hungry it’s okay. I was considering what to do, since it was a wet day, but in the end I couldn’t go home without shopping. First I spent some money at Lashinbang, but in the end I even went to Animate and got some clear files ^^; Meanwhile I got hungry again, and while I was walking, I noticed a place that seemed to make traditional pastries: London-yaki. You can see the process, it’s quite amazing. Originally you can only see box prices there, but I saw how people were buying 1 or 2 as well, so I tried, though I wasn’t sure what I was buying. Sure, it looked like pastry and kind of a white filling, but it still had a chicken in the logo, so yeah. But of course it was pastry, castella dough with white anko filling – hot of the press, all yummy~

Meanwhile the rain stopped, and I shot some photos before going home. At the Eizan station I finally managed to catch the Komorebi train. It’s a special train painted with the colors and animals of the four seasons, and I wanted to take photos of it for a long while already. I stayed behind to take photos of it and rode it for the first time. Even inside they are environmentalist messages, so it’s really great. It was a long day, and was happy to get home.

We had guerilla rains the whole day. Just when you thought it would finally stop for good, it started again with loud thunders and lightning. But okay, I wasn’t planning on going anywhere anyway, as I had to write my article, and I have two final tests next week. The only thing I did was cooking soup. Fortunately I found frozen green peas at the supermarket, so I could make a green peas-mushroom soup. And in the end I couldn’t bear it anymore, and added some cream to my mushrooms. Not perfect, as cream is sweeter, but at least something. Otherwise I was just diligently writing my article about mahou shoujo – I even forgot to watch Uchouten Kazoku on TV because of that ;__;

07/10 Wednesday
After all the studying, researching and two presentations, I wanted to have a free day despite still having an article and the final chapter of my translation. Due to the ridiculously high temperatures I thought it would be better to stay at home, but yeah… First I had to go to the Hyakumanben 100 yen shop because they were having the discount day today. I decided to do a double, so I was spending quite a lot of time in the shop. I got many useful stuff for the kitchen and of course, sweets XD Such days are very busy for the shop, and I think there are a lot of people making use of it. I think I saw at least three shoplifters while I was waiting in the line at the cashier >_>

I picked Teriyaki Tofu Stake for lunch, and it was delicious~ Since it was hot I tried the vegan ice cream they have there, and it was good too. I need to get through their tarts and cakes as well~ Btw, probably since it wasn’t the first time I went there, when I was paying the waitress chatted with me a bit – like where I’m from, what am I studying and such, she was very cute ^^

Hi~

Hi~

After lunch I brought my shoppings home, cooled down a bit, renewed my sun blocker and headed for the Kyoto Botanical Garden. The thing is, there is no convenient public transportation from my home to the Garden, either you need to walk a lot, or transfer three times, which is ridiculous. In the end I decided to go down to Chayama by train and walk. It didn’t seem that long of a way, but in fact it was very far, especially in these temperatures orz Next time I will find something else for sure. It might be a detour, but there seems to be a bus near Demachiyanagi, which has a stop at the bridge near one of the entries, so yeah.

A rare moment: the chic is trying to swallow a huge dragonfly!

Although I memorized the way, I regretted not bringing my map, because it seemed like I was walking forever, but still no sigh of the Garden. Strange thing, I found some places from April again, and it was like separate point getting linked together suddenly. On the way I saw the first real supermarket I found here, where I could buy ingredients too, a Kyoto Coop, and I realized I’m near the Sakyo-ku Ward Office. It was a nice surprise ^^ Anyway, after short detours in the unbearable hotness I found some maps, where I could identify where I was and where to go, and in the end I successfully found the Botanical Garden.

Finally arrived at the garden

You have to purchase the ticket from a vending machine, which is always fun (you know, unknown machines for the first time), and then the guard explained where it would be the best to go for the flowers. He asked if I was speaking Japanese, to which I said only a bit, and then he switched to English – well, my bit is a bit more than that, but oh well XD; Okay, he was nice anyway. It was still burning hot, so I already knew it would be a torture to walk around more in the burning sun, but here were a lot of trees at least, so it wasn’t that bad – not to mention my straw hat was great the whole day. For skin protection and not to tease the prudish folks here I was wearing a thin cardigan to hide my arms and shoulders, but it was just too hot, so I had to take it off. The hat did a nice job to give at least a bit of a shadow to my shoulders and chest too~

Still there were others, the sunflowers were gorgeous, not to mention the lotuses~ I particularly liked the part with the useful plant, where they had pumpkins hanging from above :D I was walking around a lot, saw many plants, and of course birds too. I think they were similar to our black bird, and they were living in a group there. I got there quite late, so I couldn’t get into the green house anymore, not to mention I only had 1:15 till the closing time, so I wasn’t able to see every single corner – though I was already dead tired from this much. Well, the Botanical Garden is a place for re-visiting, and the ticket is cheap too, just 200 yen.

After that I wanted to check out a department store near the Kitaoji station (it’s already the other river): Vivre. It was already hard to walk, but it was worth. The stores were just like usual, though I took note of a bakery on the way that could be interesting. To tell the truth my main point in going there was gacha – I was hoping to find some new ones here, or just something interesting. Although there were many machines, I was only interested in two: two Nyanko Sensei gacha machines~~~ My collection grew with two cute Nyankos :D

After this I was considering how to get home, but there was only walking – I noticed the detour bus to Demachiyanagi too late, but next time. By the time I got home I was already dead tired, but it was a nice day~

07. 01-09. Monday-Tuesday

Guh, I feel like I will never catch up in this blog, but I’m trying ^^; The new semester started and I was quite busy over the past few weeks. Now I can finally post the first half of July, and I promise the second part will follow in a few days. Actually my July was relatively boring, because I had to concentrate on the final exams, translating and my articles, and due to that I was confined at home most of the time, but there were still some interesting happenings.

Early morning, but actually the only day I went to the uni. I had two presentations the next week and still a translation and article to finish, so I prioritized these. Not to mention this day wasn’t complete either, as I didn’t have to go for the third period, and of course I didn’t wait for the fourth. After getting some peanuts at Hyakumanben I came home, and I just went for shopping in the evening to have stuff for Wednesday’s cooking. And I got a melon again, because it was cheap~~~ Yeah, that’s all.

07/02 Tuesday
It was one of the worst days I had here. I have a problem with two of my wisdom teeth, and one of them was inflamed for a few days already, and it got pretty bad that day. I didn’t feel like doing anything doe to the pain, and only painkillers could give me a few hours of a breather. I knew about the problem, and that the teeth need to be operated out, but I didn’t have to do it before the departure, and I didn’t really want to do it here – kinda hoping I could postpone it till I go home next year. But I was seriously considering visiting a dentist that day, though still hoped with would be solved by itself.

I love the sea of flowers and the petals on the ground

I love the sea of flowers and the petals on the ground

Otherwise my morning was spent with reading an essay we would discuss at the seminar at Seika – of course I wouldn’t skip that. By the time I went there I was already on painkillers, so I was pretty absent-minded, but it was okay. After class I went to the library to read some manga, but I didn’t really have the patience. My mood wasn’t that great either, and I only wanted something to cheer me up – like a gacha. I couldn’t buy it on the way to Seika due to the lack of 100-yen coins, but after class I got instant coffee and cream powder and with the change I could try. I went to the gacha machines at Konan hoping I could get more Nyanko-sensei, but that machine wasn’t there anymore ;__; Still they had the one where I needed a figure from, so I tried. I thought about stopping because it was a bad day already, but tried anyway – at least I didn’t get a double.

Close-up

Close-up

At home I started reading for my presentation, and then the worst of the day happened – I had the first cockroach in my home T__T I was a shock, and a huge scare of course, as I never had to deal with these parasites so far. Of course it had to die, and from now on I won’t leave the kitchen and bathroom windows open, because I’m sure that’s where it came from. Generally I just leave bugs alive and didn’t care, but that’s not true for cockroaches. I guess I will buy something against them too – ewww… It was indeed a bad day…

07/03 Wednesday
I have to say I wasn’t feeling very safe after the cockroach experience last night, but I was happy I managed to kill it and life goes on. I had to prepare lunch in the morning, and I made something I never did before. It was troublesome, because I had to fry everything separately, and I only have one gas burner, but it was worth. It was basically a potato-tomato-eggplant dish and yummy~ Other than that it was my free day, though with my upcoming presentations, tests, translation and article I sure wasn’t bored.

07/04-07 Thursday-Sunday
On Thursday I didn’t do anything special, just went to the university and otherwise tried to work some.

Friday was only a tiny bit more interesting. I spent most of my day waiting for my first package from my parents. It turned out that I will need a few things from home in future as well, and they sent me the first package via airmail. There was a tracking number as well, so I knew the package would arrive today, but I was just waiting and waiting, and nothing happened. I didn’t even dare to go to the supermarket, so I wouldn’t miss it, and in the end it was delivered early afternoon. It was a nice feeling. The package arrived in less than two weeks, which is great. I got some deos, because the ones here are pretty much useless, some spices I can’t find here (Vegeta, marjoram) or are too expensive (parsley), my garlic press, my fave small knife because this size doesn’t seem to exist here and I only cut myself with bigger ones, my swim suit (though I didn’t get to use it :( ) and sponge cloths, because the one I use for wiping the excess water off doesn’t seem to exist here. Just imagine, I was able to wipe the sink dry after three months XD After getting the package I went to Shuugakuin for grocery shopping and to get more dehumidifiers from the drug store, and went to pay some bills at the conbini, like my health insurance and my Meikido DJ order.

Soup with bunapi mushrooms

Soup with bunapi mushrooms

Hi there...

Hi there…

My Saturday was less interesting, I just made a soup, and concentrated on my homework and job. I had to shop for groceries in the morning, and this time I went to the Fresco in the north. There was a taiyaki stall, so I got that despite being hot, I just felt like eating it. My mood wasn’t that great (mainly due to the rainy weather that was coming), so on the way home I wanted to cheer myself up with gacha, but I got my first double ;__; Better not to try these on bad days.

On Sunday I made broccoli with a white sauce. At home I would use cream for that, but since it’s too thin here, I made it with bachamel and it was great. I also felt like I need to make a cake or I would die. Sometimes I’m really craving things, and I’m always hungry… I guess something is missing from my diet here *sigh* Anyway, since I don’t have an over, I searched for the recipe of a microwave cake. In the morning I got some additional ingredients for that like dry fruits, and tried it in the afternoon. Sure, it’s different from a normal cake, but it was good, and quenched my hunger for cakes a bit.

After my long day at KyoDai I didn’t rest for once. I went to Chayama to do some shopping. The days are hotter and hotter, the sun is merciless, and sometimes I can’t use my parasol, so I decided to get a hat. At Quanat there are several shops carrying hats, but I had my eyes on a certain one from before. After taking a look around I ended up buying that one and a second animal spoon – a cat one for the violet eyes. In the meantime I lost that spoon already, maybe accidentally threw away with some rubbish :( I got some stuff at Yamaya too, and then headed home.

07/09 Tuesday
The day of my presentation at Seika. Actually I couldn’t finish everything on Monday, so in the end I decided to skip, and it was worth too. I was totally busy with the power point, taking photos of my manga (since I don’t have a scanner yet), so the morning quickly flew away. I wasn’t sure if there would be a laptop, so I just packed mine, which left me with a heavy baggage and it’s not that fun in the heat. Anyway, my presentation was the last one, and although I’m still at the beginning of my research with hardly any meaningful and really academic revelations, it felt nice to be able to speak about the points and artists I’m interested in. I got some nice tips as well, so after this semester I can fully devote myself to my research. The day was very tiring for me, so I was just happy to get home.

Strange building at Chayama

Strange building at Chayama

06/28 Friday
I was trying to work a bit in the morning before going to the university, so I have totally forgotten I wanted to leave earlier, so I could pay the rent at the bank. After leaving home I had to do that first, even knowing I would be late to classes – but in the end, I just missed 10 minutes, and in that class being late is not really an issue. Actually a strange thing I noticed is, that students often leave the classroom for a short break (toilet) even during class – which is rude and impossible in Hungary, and I wouldn’t do that ever. At home it can easily end with the teacher saying: “If you don’t find my class interesting you don’t even need to come back” – or something along those lines. Or is it a generational thing, and the youngsters do it in Hungary already as well? Hm…

Anyway, after classes I decided to drop by the Quanat Department store at Chayama. Actually I was thinking about checking out the stores better than before, and maybe also get an idea and ingredients for Sunday’s lunch. I also needed better shoes or sandals for summer, so yeah. The shoe issue is complicated, so after a quick round I went up to Uniqlo, and you know what, they had a discount again o_O I got two skirts and a top, so yay~ And going through all the shops I realized they have practically everything there. I found a shop for cute stuff, and got a frog spoon~~~ I saw there a straw hat I liked, and I might get it, because sometimes I just don’t feel like using the parasol, but the sun is just too strong. Oh, and Quanat has a 100-yen shop with very nice stuff, so yeah, I might get back for various things. Another hidden reason of my trip was the gacha, but the one I wanted to have disappeared already :( Finally I went to the Comic Storm shop for a few things, nothing much. I was pretty tired in the evening, and had to sleep early too, because of the Kobe trip.

06/29 Saturday
The day of the Kobe trip, though from the diary point of view this entry won’t be all that interesting. For the first time in a long while I had to get up at 5:45, and it was worse than expected. To think that just a few months ago I had to do this regularly, and there were even times I had to get up at 4:45… Almost unbelievable. The meeting point was around 8:15 at the Karasuma Hankyuu station, but with the early get-ups I get hungry earlier, so I got something at a conbini. To be safe I also got some cookies for later, and it was a good decision.

We went with the Hankyuu train to Kobe, and the whole trip was an hour or so – it’s not that far, so I can go back for sightseeing any time I guess. We immediately walked to the Konan University – the location of the workshop, and didn’t left till the end around 18:00. On the way I noticed a wild boar in a riverbed – OMG! O_O Nobody seemed to bother with it, only us “tourists”, so I thought there would be a reason for this. Among other things for the panel we received some stickers for the Konan Univ, and there were cute boars too, so yeah, there had to be something. It seems the boar are coming down form the mountain all the time, and since they are fed by people, they like it there. Very dangerous, I think, but seeing a boar there was still fun.

The other interesting point of the day was, what I could eat for lunch. First I had no idea what to do about it, and since at first it was like others would order bentous and sandwiches, I thought I will go with conbini onigiri. Then it turned out the school cafeteria is open, so we could go there. Of course there was hardly anything for me, but better than nothing. Still, I finished lunch quite hungry, so the cookies I got in the morning came very handy.

I was practically brain dead at the end of the workshop. There were some, who went to town after that, and it would have been great indeed, but I was just too tired, and getting home would take time too. I got back to Kyoto with the others, and arrived after 7. Since it was still early, I thought about going to a few shops in the shopping district, but due to my tiredness I just checked out one I haven’t been to before: the Animega and the stationary shop in the same place. The stationary shop is amazing, and Animega is a tiny Animate-like shop with less people – will be back there for sure. And the fun thing is, they had the gacha machine I was missing yesterday~ A nice ending for the day :D Well, after that I realized I totally passed by another one I wanted to try, but since it has an older release, it’s not everywhere, but my tired brain just didn’t register is ^^; Well, next time. The shopping district was very crowded this time – well, Saturday evening. I was just happy to get home.

06/30 Sunday
Today’s big mission was cooking. Usually it’s not a problem, but now I had to make a soup and a main dish as well, and with only one gas burner it was quite the challenge. But well, I did have the ingredients for the soup, so I just started with it early in the morning. When it was done, I put on the rice, which would take an hour anyway, and left for Life, because they had the better discounts. In the end I decided to make lecsó, and for the nice stuff I got a whole melon and small ice creams, so I wouldn’t have too much calories when eating one – though I was told I have lost weight, so it’s not a problem – I guess it’s the lack of Carbohydrate in my food here… Anyway, when I got home the rice was ready, and I quickly made the lecsó – I finished before noon, so yay~ After that it was just studying – I was still pretty much dead from the Kobe trip, so yeah…

06/24 Monday
Did I already write how much I hate Mondays? Yes? Well, I can’t say it enough -_- Okay, let’s just skip the school part. On the way home I was taking photos of a tree with ripe fruits, when I noticed tiny green birds jumping from one branch to another and snacking on the fruits. They were so cute, but it was like impossible to take a pic of them, because they were moving around so fast. After looking around a bit I found out it was the Japanese White-eye – very cute~

I have no idea what this tree is. Btw, it was impossible to take pics of the birds…

So, today we finally got our scholarship. After classes I had to go to get some fruits, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to have dinner. First I automatically went into Fresco, then I realized I needed money from the bank first XD Anyway, I for some bananas, melon and such, and saw plums and apricots, but to a ridiculous price. At the other grocery shop I discovered a kind of greengage plum, and it looked so tasty I just had to get a box, and since I was hungry for cheese again, I just got the regular smoked one too. Oh, on the way home I think I saw a mouse running through the street – it was tiny and very fast so I’m pretty sure ^^ The classes were killing me, so I wasn’t all that productive in the evening…

Asian fried rice

06/25 Tuesday
First grammar class in two weeks, and I was suffering like always. Due to my eating habits it’s in the worst possible time. It’s starting when I usually eat for the first time, and doesn’t end till 12 – which is past my lunch time. I’m just too hungry to concentrate there ;__; Anyway, I didn’t have food at home anymore, so I decided to go to Café Proverbs again. I got the special lunch set with Asian Fried Rice, and it was delicious~~~ Spicy with nice mushrooms, vegetables, some kind of a veggie meat and eggs. Btw the student discount is really useful, because I can pick the most expensive set without worrying all that much. Oh, and this time I got a point card as well :D

Actually today instead of our regular class at Seika, a small event was planned at the Manga Museum. Our professor has met a good Chinese artist at a conference in Indonesia and the artist came to Kyoto, so they quickly arranged a presentation with him. I had time till the event, so I was considering if I should just go to town and waste my time somewhere, or got home first to drop off my stuff. Actually carrying the school stuff and my tablet is way too much (my shoulder is starting to get bruised), so in the end I quickly got them home. I wasn’t really motivated to do anything, but in the end I had to go. I was walking from Demachiyanagi, and saw some beautiful hydrangea on the way~

The event itself was fun, and after that I dropped by Lashinbang to boost my mood with new manga. Btw, I realized there why the songs of the anime I generally don’t watch seemed so familiar on the TV during the weekend: they play them all at Lashinbang XD I got some manga very cheap and I already thought I could survive the day without spending much, but just to be sure I dropped by Animate to check if they had Nakamura Asumiko’s box for A and B no Gekijou – and you know what, they did! I guess so many people inquired about it (myself included), that they had to produce more~ I didn’t hesitate and got the box and the two huge, hard cover volumes – and my finances took a big hit from the price ^^; But yeah, I calculated that beforehand, and collector items are collector items – they are all just gorgeous~ Actually there was a huge line at the cashier despite more than five operating, I guess. It’s shocking just to what extent people are spending money here – or in Japan in general. Well, it indeed is the biggest consumer society in the world… When I was there I got another Magi gacha – it’s just… sinful ^^; When I was walking home, it was already dark – the town seems totally different at times like this, it’s interesting ^^

Lunch~

06/26 Wednesday
In the morning I just had to make lunch, and I was craving some potatoes. For that I made mushrooms again, because Japanese mushrooms are great. I was considering to add daikon or other things, but in the end I just decided to mix the shimeji and the eringi. Other than this I was trying to translate a bit, but I got sidetracked a lot by things like where to buy second-hand gacha for a good price. It turned out Kyoto isn’t good for that either – actually there was a shop that had some, but it closed just a few days before I arrived ^^;;; Other than the local Lashingban my only option is to try in Osaka, because they have a lot of shops like that in DenDen Town (like Super Position G-One, Yellow Submarine etc). I guess my next trip to Osaka will be for shopping only, because getting through all these shops takes forever. Btw, it was raining all day, and it doesn’t actually improve one’s mood…

06/27 Thursday
In the morning I really wanted to work a bit, but somehow I just wasn’t able to. Finally it wasn’t raining, so I quickly washed my clothes, though they didn’t get completely dry till the evening. Actually I was looking several things up about Kobe and such. We will be going there with my professor and a few students for a workshop, on Saturday, but since there are lectures till the evening, I won’t have time to do any shopping sightseeing, so yeah, not much sense in making a list with the shops and restaurants that could be interesting ^^;

Didn't look that friendly to be honest

Didn’t look that friendly to be honest

Anyway, after my classes I got some peanuts and sweets from the 100 yen shop, and my next station would have been Shuugakuin, but I decided to drop off my luggage at home. I realized I need to pay rent and the first installment of the health insurance, so I went to Shuugakuin for that, and to maybe buy some fruits. Sure, I couldn’t transfer the rent in the evening anymore (the ATM was there, but I had no idea which button to push XD;), but I paid the insurance at the conbini. It’s really useful that you don’t need to go to the post with the bills, you just go to the closest conbini and that’s it. After that I got some oranges and tomatoes at Fresco, and the other grocery shop had plums again – even 100 yen cheaper! Yay! So my fruit problems are solved for a few days~

Otherwise currently I’m thinking about buying a combined microwave and oven and I was checking out things are the recycle shop. I’m still not sure what to get – if at all. Because most of the food I was baking in the oven needs sour cream and/or cheese, both of which are terribly expensive here :/ Still, I don’t think you can live without an oven… Hm…

06/17 Monday
The horrific Monday… For once I managed to drag myself to the uni for the first kanji class in the morning. To think just a few months ago I had days I had to start working at 6:30, and now I have troubles getting to the uni till 8:45 ^^; But actually it’s because I need to prepare a lot for Monday – I have four classes, I bring my lunch, my tablet, 1 liter water and so on. Even if I prepare part of it on Sunday, it still takes more time to get ready than usual. Anyway, the reason I had to go to the class today was that I had to catch up on the tests we have every week. This time I was even writing three tests so it was a bit stressful and I didn’t even have time to eat my breakfast – you can imagine how hungry I was without eating anything before noon ^^; All in all the day was very long and exhausting. I should have done some shopping at the 100-yen store and the drug store, but it was no emergency and it was hot outside, so I just came home. Fortunately there are no classes tomorrow at all, so I can catch up a bit with everything.

06/18-19 Tuesday and Wednesday
Nothing interesting, really. I ordered myself house arrest for Tuesday and Wednesday, so I could work and study. I had no classes today anywhere (foundation day at KyoDai and another reason at Seika), so it was good timing. Actually it started raining due to Typhoon No.4, and the weather report said it wouldn’t stop till weekend – great :/ Fortunately it wasn’t raining when I went shopping for ingredients on Wednesday. I got more mushrooms for the same dish and got some éclair-like pastries for dessert – it was even quite okay~ Otherwise nothing interesting happened. Oh, I ordered a table for my bed on Tuesday. Till now my laptop was always on my lap, and it was just no good anymore. With summer being here already it was too hot, and it’s not good for the laptop either. If I buy a table for the bed, I decided to get one with fans for the laptop. These customizable tables aren’t cheap, but I managed to find one at a more reasonable price.

Classes again. But before that I had to go shopping to the Takaragaike Life, because they had good discounts. I don’t really like to go there, because it’s too far (20-25 minutes of walking), and now it was also raining. Anyway, I decided to experiment a bit with recipes from the net, so I got ingredients for that. They also had ready to go fried snacks like taiyaki and something similar to a dorayaki, so I got those too. Sure, it’s not as great as freshly baked, but putting it into the microwave and eating it while hot isn’t so bad – and somehow it really felt great to eat red bean paste after such a long time~

More clouds... and rain

More clouds… and rain

After classes I also went to the drug store at Hyakumanben, because I needed quite a few things and they had a 5% discount anyway. Maybe it’s strange that I’m always discount this, discount that all the time, but well, with my manga spending, sightseeings it needs to be – and well, I do eat out too, and still need to buy basic things for living. Anyway, I couldn’t find curry powder at Life, but fortunately they had some at the 100 yen shop, where I got more tools for the sake of the new meal.

I was also waiting for the table to be delivered in the morning, but it didn’t come. Apparently they tried to deliver it at 13:00, when I had my classes already. Upon coming home I found the notice too, and had to see how to arrange a redelivery. I won’t call any Japanese numbers, that’s for sure, so I checked the website of Yamato. Fortunately you can schedule a redelivery there too, but it wasn’t easy. Somehow it just didn’t accept my name, and I almost thought it accepted kanji only. I also tried to register at the site to maybe avoid this issue, and I got problems there two despite the note that Latin characters are accepted as well. It turned out it only accepted the special full-width characters, even for Romaji – sure, they have written that, but I thought the normal input would be okay. It took quite a while for me to figure out how to get there full-width characters orz In the end I managed to set up the redelivery, but 30 minutes later they brought the table already, so yay~ The table got 3/5 in the ratings, so I didn’t expect much, but it’s quite okay. Sure, there are some issues, but it will be okay for the intended use.

06/21 Friday
My mood wasn’t really great due to the rain, so my day wasn’t anything special either. In the morning I was cooking before my classes. I’m a bit obsessed with pumpkins, so I was checking out the internet for recipes with a pumpkin maindish. In the end I found some interesting ones I could combine and modify for my limited options here. It has green onion, red paprika, pumpkin, ginger, garlic and curry. The end result was delicious, and at this point I still didn’t know, that after some fine tunings this would turn out to be one of my fave dishes here – and it’s reproducible in Hungary as well.

The meal~

After my classes I just came home, and I had another discovery in the evening – after like two months I discovered the Friday movie block on one of the channels – well, it took me time to start watching TV in the evening, so yeah. They had Independence Day today, which was quite strange with the Japanese dub – and it was cut too – very peculiar.

Cabbage soup

Cabbage soup

06/22 Saturday
I was cooking in the morning and studied in the afternoon, so that was basically it. I got cabbage before, and I made a red cabbage soup using tomato sauce, paprika powder and spices – with a bit of basil. Actually it’s the same way of making like we do it with sauerkraut, but due to the new cabbage it has a certain freshness. To tell the truth I have never made this before in Hungary, neither with sauerkraut, not with fresh cabbage, so it’s funny I was trying to make this Hungarian dish in Japan for the first time XD I have to say I just got another alternative for soup – I loved it~

In the afternoon I finally got myself to look for an online Japanese TV guide, because I was just habitually watching the TV sometimes, but had no idea about the programs – or even about anime on TV. It turned out despite having only a handful channels, there are some anime I could watch on the TV. Sure, the late-night shows are a no-go, but there are others I can check out, or just let them run in the background. For Saturday I was already too late, but I decided to check out how it is.

Look at these swallow fledglings *__*

06/23 Sunday
With that said and done I turned on the TV in the morning, and a PreCure episode was starting. Sure, I wasn’t watching it closely, but it was good to see anime on TV – and yeah, one should know where the mahou shoujo genre stands currently. At another channel I caught Toriko and after that One Piece – OMG! It has been like 100 episodes since I stopped watching… I really should try catching up – especially because I stopped at the beginning of the Ace arc – partially because I knew what was coming from the manga. Anyway, that was all for me in the morning, but in the evening I saw some more: the latest Uchuu Senka Yamato 2199 (that OP is epic~~~ The series looks quite okay, btw, might check it out from the beginning) and Phi Brain 2, and just watched some Chibi Maruko-chan and Sazae-san for the heck of it XD I guess for now on I will watch some random anime on TV as well ^^;

Otherwise I had to go shopping – Fresco had discount on eggs and a general 10% discount on many products, and Life had a discount on yogurt and some vegetables. Actually it was due to the different directions it was quite a walk, but at least I was all the more hungry for lunch. After that it was just the same studying+working combo again *sigh*

Gah, my summer holidays weren’t going as great as I hoped. I have been sick for more than two weeks – now it’s more or less okay, but I still have terrible coughs. The reason, well, 35 °C outside and too strong air-conditioning in shops. I wasn’t careful enough, and caught a terrible cold :( I’m pretty sure I will escape Japan or at least Kyoto in summer next year. I have no idea how I will do that, but it’s impossible to live here in summer. Anyway, mass-posting~

06/12 Wednesday
Despite my busy Tuesday I went to the movies today as well, because I wanted to watch Haru at Movix. After having lunch at home I decided on the most cost-effective way, so I was walking from Demachiyanagi to the shopping district. I was very hot, but for that I saw a lot of different Hydrangeas on the way *___*

Haru

Haru

After arriving I got my ticket first, and that’s when I realized, that the Wednesday discount isn’t valid for this show – strange, but what can you do. After getting the ticket I was just walking around a bit in the area, but the movie started soon, too. It turned out everybody would get a small booklet at the ticket check which is nice, but on the other hand it wasn’t enough to compensate for the price of the ticket for a movie that doesn’t even last an hour. Yeah, that’s another fact I realized only after watching the movie – after Shinkai’s latest it’s another short. By the way watching it after Shinkai’s movie was the biggest mistake, because anything would pale after that, and Haru was unfortunately mediocre anyway, so it didn’t leave a big impression on me. The only good thing about the movie was the setting: Kyoto. It was great to see all those places I frequent – the booklet had some detailed information about that too.

After the movie I went to Lashinbang, and since it was hot, I decided to try a shop that was supposedly selling regular ice cream, Italian-style. In the end it was far from Italian ice-cream, but since such places are rare (soft cream if more popular here, who knows why), so I’m glad that I tried it at least. There were chairs to sit down, so I could admire the Hydrangeas while eating.

06/13 Thursday
The heat wave we got thanks to the Typhoon No.3 was still ongoing – actually it got even worse today. In the morning I had to go shopping for ingredients. This time I had to go much further to the Life supermarket, because they had better discounts. I would have loved to go there early, but they open at 9:30, so there was nothing to do. By the time I left home it was already burning hot. It was already quite an accomplishment to actually get there, but then getting home with the heavy bags was almost like torture. Actually I had a nice discovery at Life. At the shelves for sweets I discovered some imported goods marked with flags. Then I just noticed the Hungarian flag there, in front of a package of some Haribo Gold Bears – I was like, what?! Because Haribo should be a German company, so why? But then I checked, and that particular Haribo product was indeed produced in Hungary o_o What a surprise! And I can’t deny it was a good feeling to discover something from my home country in Japan. Anyway, Getting home was not easy, and to prove just how hot it was outside, the dark chocolate bar I got at Life partially melted by the time I got home ^^;

Cooking in the hot kitchen wasn’t easy either, and by the time I was done, I was already totally exhausted due to the temperatures. I was watching the TV during lunch, and they said it was almost 35 °C already, so I was tending to skipping the classes in the afternoon, as I was reluctant to get out into those temperatures again. In the end I still went, but getting there was like hell. I should have just gotten home immediately after classes, but I had to get a new sun blocker. Due to the lack of shadows on the way to Demachiyanagi (the sun is practically glaring into your face in the afternoon), I decided to get on at Mototanaka. The distance is nearly the same to that station, and there was shadow on the road. In the end I didn’t get home immediately, I stopped by Chayama, because I needed a few things from the Yamaya, a store for imported goods in the Quanat Department store. It meant another load of long walking, but what to do. I got parmesan, tomato puree, diced tomatoes to a good price, and to my surprise I found peppermint tea as well! *__* The shop has a wider selection of cheese, quite expensive, of course – still, I might get some later, especially their imported Camembert *__*

I was playing with the thought of getting some ice cream at the Fresco at Shuugakuin, but I was fed up with the heat and the walking already, not to mention some uncomfortable blisters due to wearing different shoes and no socks. When I got home I realized I forgot to turn off the aircon, but I was very happy about that. During dinner I turned on the TV and they said it was 35,9 °C in Kyoto today – urgh… Since they said also said we would have 33 °C tomorrow, I decided to skip my classes, because I just can’t bear it anymore, and I have work for the magazine and a translation to do either way, so yeah.

Now with Parmesan~

06/14 Friday
So I skipped. It was already 27 °C in the morning, and it went over 35 °C today as well, so I just wasn’t able to go to classes. It doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything. I actually got out to check out the Konan Home Center near here. It’s kind of late for me to discover that there is a home goods company near my home, but well, I always thought it was a flower-home improvement store like Obi. In fact it’s that and a bit run down version of Nitori with some drug store touch – basically, they sell almost everything. I actually went there because I’m still looking for ultrasonic insect repellents, but they didn’t have any, I even asked. Checking the net it doesn’t seem to exist in Japan, only for dogs or to chase away cats. Okay, I don’t have any bug issue, but I don’t even want any, so prevention is the best – however I don’t like the ones that are using chemicals, not to mention most over them are against bugs, not to prevent them *sigh* Anyway, I got wash powder and wet tissues to clean my mangas, and looked though the shop. They have sheets too, and not 100% polyester like mine, so I’m considering getting some later. If I ever need a chest, I can get it there as well. Oh, and there are gacha machines in front of the shop too – very dangerous… I think I fell for the gacha XD

Sugar sweet melon~

Sugar sweet melon~

Anyway, after Konan I went to the Fresco in the North, but forgot the most important things for tomorrow’s cooking: flour and parsley ^^; However I allowed myself some luxury: I bought a half honeydew melon, and it turned out to be delicious~ In this hotness there’s nothing better than a cool melon – maybe only a cool water melon ^^

Coming home I had my lunch with the parmesan I got yesterday, and started studying and working. I have a translation and two articles to write, so no time…

06/15 Saturday
I had to cook today, but as I mentioned before, there were two things I forgot to buy the day before at Fresco: flour and parsley, both needed for today’s soup. So I ran down to Fresco to get them, but they only had parsley in a 4 g holder, which is way too small for 208 yen. After contemplating a bit I decided to try elsewhere, and waited for the grocery shop to open at 9:30 while eating a soyjoy bar. Actually I don’t recommend the peanuts one, it’s way too dry. As for the opening times, I noticed, shops are opening very late here, a far cry from our supermarkets opening at 6:00… Very strange… But well, conbini should be open, if needed, so yeah. Anyway, at the other shop I got some strawberries, probably for the last time this year – the season for them is definitely over. As for parsley, it’s strange the root itself is nowhere to be found here. I saw something that had similar leaves as parsley, but I didn’t dare to buy it as it had an unknown Japanese name and no parsley smell. Fortunately I found refill bag for the parsley spice for a reasonable price here, so I got that. Later I looked up the mysterious grass, mitsuba, and it turned out to be wild parsley, so next time I can try that too.

Soup with beans

Soup with beans

Today I had to make soup, and I decided on a bean soup, because I found the type of beans we use at home as well at Life the last time. I had to make a few adjustments due to the circumstances here, but the end result way yummy *__* Other than that I was just studying and working -_-; The day way so much like my usual Sunday, that I even thought it was Sunday and waited for the new Shingeki no Kyojin ep – oh well XD;

I used it only in my soups so far, so I had no idea how it would be like, but it tastes heavenly~~~ *__* Eringi banzai~~~ I only used salt, pepper, chili and parsley for spices, but the taste turned out to be amazingly good. Great discovery about this mushroom~

Otherwise indeed just studying, working and yeah, some watching for work…

06. 11. Tuesday

06/11 Tuesday
I’m having a bit of a bad mood because I’m fed up with the constant heat (over 35 °C every day), but it’s not like it will change any soon, so yeah :/ Anyway, back to June, where it started to be this hot – seriously, it had been two month with these temperatures and it’s enough already :(

My first ramen *__*

My first ramen *__*

So on Tuesday back then we didn’t have the seminar at Seika, so I had a free afternoon. I was planning on going to the Nijo castle and watch a movie there, so I didn’t want to waste time with bringing my stuff home, eat there and go back to town. Instead I decided to try Café Proverbs at Hyakumanben. After my class I met the German girl and in the end we went together. Café Proverbs is great, and I’m sure I will eat there in future as well! They have a lot of different types of food and four types of lunch menus changing every day~ Not to mention the food tastes amazing too! This time I choose the ramen lunch, simply because I never had the change to try ramen before, and without Café Proverbs I wouldn’t even get the chance ever. Ramen is hard to eat (you know, long noodles with chopsticks ^^;), but it was a great experience~

The Nijo Station

The Nijo Station

Satisfied with my lunch I headed to the Nijo station by bus to start my afternoon program. While I was waiting for my bus an old woman asked me if I was American and threw at me some scornful glances. I told her I was European, and was glad my bus arrived, as it wasn’t a great feeling. Sure, the lady was one of the evil type, because was eying me and another young Japanese girl at the bus stop before she talked to me. Her glances were telling how disgraceful she’s finding the girls revealing clothes, so yeah. Fortunately I don’t really meet such people – or at least others don’t show it, even if they are thinking like this. Sure, old guys are generally rude, but it’s because they think the world revolves around them, and old ladies are generally quite sweet.

After arriving to Nijo I was surprised to find a bigger station there – I wasn’t aware. First I went to look for the cinema to secure my ticket for the movie, Shinkai Makoto’s Kotonoha no Niwa. The cinema is in a smaller plaza, and I got my ticket too – from a machine ^^; When I saw that I have to buy the ticket from a machine, I was scared at first, but there were English instructions as well, fortunately. Still, I was looking twice what options I was pushing, because you know, it’s easy to mess up with a machine even in your mother tongue. I secured my ticket, and since there was a lot of time, I headed to the Nijo castle. It’s actually quite a walk from the Nijo Station, and it was no good feeling under the blazing sun, but it turned out to be even worse later.

I got my ticket and I went to the castle itself first. It was not possible to make photos inside, and they protect it a lot too by having shades all over and having people take off their shoes before going in. The Nijo castle is a bit tattered, and they still need to spend a lot of money on renovating it. I haven’t seen such a thing anywhere else so far, but they are also raising funds for that purpose. The castle looks very interesting with some amazing painted walls and cravings. Especially the cravings were breathtaking for me. There were a lot of tourists by the way, and mainly domestic ones, including a lot of elementary and middle schoolers. Kids are honest, and I guess they haven’t really seen white people before, because I was very interesting for them. Though the kids didn’t mean any harm, after the bad experience with the old lady today this wasn’t exactly pleasant either, but what can you do ^^;

After the castle I took a look at the garden, and it was beautiful! Nothing was blooming anymore, but even like this it was worth, and I’m sure it’s even better in other seasons. There are the ruins of the original castle too, and from there you can get a wonderful view of the surroundings. I saw bees, plum trees, small lakes, it’s was great – albeit too hot, and I was majorly suffering there under the blazing sun. As for my parasol, I was using it sometimes, but there was a strong wind, not to mention it’s very hard to take photos with a parasol in one hand…

After the castle visit I still had a lot of time, and I was considering what to do. I wanted to go to Nitori for more boxes and summer bedding, and played with the thought of going to the Horikawa Book Off, but in the end I wouldn’t have made it back in time for the movie, so I went to the plaza, looked around a bit, and spent the rest of my time at a café reading on my tablet. Then it was time for the movie, and we even got a post card at the entry. The movie itself was great. Actually there was a short at the start, Dareka no Manazashi, and it’s Shinkai Makoto at his best about family bonds and love. It’s very touching, even the Japanese next to me were sipping. Then the main movie, Kotonoha no Niwa. After the fantasy excursus Shinkai returned to what he does best: real, human stories with strong feeling tinted with melancholy. The movie itself is short too, but it was enough for this story, and the visuals are superb like always. Although the movie was available for DL already, I was glad I watched it on the big screen~

After the movie I took the bus for Nitori. My current bedding was starting to feel very hot, despite me running the aircon all night. I was considering to buy some cooling sheets, but in the end I decided to just get a thin blanket. I also got some more boxes, and looked around if they have anything else – maybe jewelry boxes, and I was lucky! I was hunting for one in vain for weeks already, but here they indeed had ones, and I could find an ideal one for a good price~~~ My luggage was huge after this stop, so I could forget going to the Book Off after this, but I was tired too, so I didn’t even mind it all that much. With this the busy day ended, but I knew it would continue tomorrow.

06/07 Friday
Before my classes I made lunch, said egg goulash with mayo corn and the rye bread. It was a delight to eat normal bread again~ After my classes I decided to walk down to the shopping district, because I didn’t want to miss the Hydrangeas in full blossom. This time I was walking on the left side of the river, more exactly all along the Higashioji-dori, because I was hoping to find some shadow there. Then I remembered the place where I ate crepe after visiting the Heian Shrine, and since I felt like eating it again, I dropped by. Surprisingly I managed to find out immediately :D It was hard to pick one, but I tried the almond-choco one and it was yummy – full of almond *__*

On the way I saw many shrines and temples, but it’s almost not surprising anymore. As expected, the Hydrangeas blossomed beautifully over the past week and these blues ones are just gorgeous. If I remember right the Hydrangea at my grandma’s garden was light pink, and the blue was is completely unknown in my country. I saw some rebel flowers with a different color like violet or pink, and there seem to be more types too. I got some manga and DJs, and tried a Magi gacha this time, when I was searching for the Nakamura Asumiko limited box at Animate (this time in vain too). After this I decided to walk home along the riverbank of Kamogawa. It was really great and refreshing in the hot temperatures, and I saw a lot of different birds like ducks, eagles or cranes.

06/08-09 Saturday-Sunday
On Saturday I had to make a soup – I decided on the mushroom & peas one, because I just love this combination. Then I went to Seika to read a bit, and to collect a few papers, but they had open campus, so it was only a half success. On the way home I got a few volumes of manga at Book Off (someone stop me from wasting so much money!!!). When I was there I decided to check out the surroundings of Takaragaike – meaning the actual lake this time.

I have read you can observe fireflies in the first half of June there, but I wanted to check out the location before going out in the evening. The sun was merciless and it was so hot, but it was still worth – the nature is pretty there, and quite big too. To tell the truth I just couldn’t find the time to hunt for the fireflies later, but it was still worth going, and I can always try next year. On the way home I saw another strange-behaving crow. This time there were others as well, and it looked like they were there standing by their mate who wasn’t able to fly. It was very interesting.

The insect and it's skin

The insect and it’s skin

My Sunday was nothing special, just the obligatory rounds at home with studying and washing my hair and stuff. The only interesting this was the insect on my door, which shed off its skin and spent a long time just standing next to it – hm…

06/10 Monday
Since I stayed up to read manga very long the day before, it was clear I wouldn’t manage the first class today – and I skipped too. In fact I had to prepare so many things, like organizing not too heavy bags and lunch, that I was almost too late to the second class. I was almost running from Mototanaka. Actually it’s the second to last station, and while the distance to KyoDai is the same as from Demachiyanagi, if you start to walk earlier, you arrive earlier too. I only took a pass to Demachiyanagi, because it’s more convenient, if you wanna go to town, but if you’re in a hurry it’s good that you can get off sooner as well. The day went buy, but I couldn’t really bear it. After classes we went to signs some papers to the Foreign Student Division, and get the results of the health check – all green, of course.

After this I went to the 100 yen shop at Hyakumanben, because I needed some new stuff and they had the “11th is for free” discount today. I got one more box for food and the thermobag in which I can carry my lunch to KyoDai on Mondays – very useful. Got more towels, a hanger and a basket for carrying my laundry too – and of course new sweets! I’m especially fond of the choco sunflower seeds, the only backside is, you just can’t stop eating it XD The white cookie bars aren’t bad either, but I had to realize once again, that I like choco better XD; The other two things will be introduced when I try them. Other than that, nothing special, I had a headache, probably due to the lack of sleep, so I was pretty useless in the evening.
