05/03 Friday
The real start of Golden Week arrived, and it meant 20% discount at all Book Offs on everything! Just how great is that?! I have to say these days were mostly about manga shopping for me, and I don’t even want to think about how many volumes I bought XD But before going on the long journey I quickly made some lunch, just eggs with p-man, because it’s fast, easy and I love it. For dessert I tried the coffee biscuits I got yesterday at Life, and I have to say, those are really good.

The One Piece cup

Oh, and I forgot that a few days ago during cleaning I finally sorted all the kitchen stuff, and put away all the things I don’t use at all, because they just take up a huge space on the small trolley. During that I took a better look at a cup I didn’t care about before, simply because I can’t use it for anything. However it turned out it’s a One Piece cup! OMG! I totally didn’t notice! I’st great, it’s from after the time skip, and was a promo item at Domino Pizza! Since then I’m using it for… my peanuts in the evening XD

I’m always wondering about this shop when I go to KyoDai… Maybe I should go in for a drink…

After having lunch I headed to the Book Off here at Takaragaike to see what they have. Needless to say I came home with a huge bag of books, but the day still wasn’t over. After contemplating a bit I decided go for more and headed once again for the Kyoto Station. First I got money from the ATM at Shuugakuin – good thing they are open on holidays as well, though not all day. I checked out the options for discounts, and since I wanted to go to more places I decided to use a Kyoto Shi-bus One Day Pass, where you only have to pay 500 yen, and you can use the buses in the center all you want – it’s really worth it. However I had no idea where to get it. I was checking out if the Univ Coop was open, because I wanted to see if they have discounts on SD cards and extension cords, but they were closed – should have checked the website first. Usually there is a tobacco shop for tickets and passes at Hyakumanben, but yeah, it was indeed a national holiday today, so it was closed. I went around a few rounds at Demachiyanagi for a clue, but in the end I asked the station staff, and they kindly told me where I could get the pass. In fact I was sent to the closest convenience store – should have thought about that option as well.

Anyway, I got the pass and first went once again to Nitori to get more boxes and the parasol I was eying the last time. In reality I wanted to check out one of the chests there, which I thought about buying, but they had none left this time. Well, there were some cons, like how I couldn’t bring it home because it’s heavy and the truck is expensive, or how it would be moving complicated later, so all in all I don’t mind I didn’t get it. It seems the card boxes with textile protect quite well against humidity, so I’m happy with that, and they are easier to transport as well. So in the end I just got more boxes and the parasol, and I was already putting latter to use that day, because the sun was merciless.

My other aim for the day was to make photos at the Uchuu Kyoudai exhibition I missed the last time, but by the time I got out of Nitori it was quite late, not to mention the bus too slow, so I was worried I wouldn’t make it. I got on a different bus than expected, so I wasn’t sure we were going, but it turned out it’s stopping at the Toji castle and in front of the Book Off there as well (which is also the closest to the Aeon Mall). I didn’t get off until the end station at Avanti, so I had to rush back to Aeon, but I did it and took a lot of photos, though the circumstances weren’t that great for my small camera.

My dinner ^^;

My dinner ^^;

I was very hungry that time, so I went to the food department of Aeon Mall, but yeah, other than crepé they didn’t have anything for vegetarians – too bad; in the end I got some cookies at Daiso. Then my resolve shattered, and went back to one of the character shops for a Sumikko gurashi notebook. I know, it’s horrible, but I couldn’t resist any longer. Seriously, I would save myself a lot of trouble if I just bought the things I like at first glance, but I like to consider good if I really want and need that thing. Okay, I don’t necessarily need this note, but I really wanted it~

After that I went to Bic Camera, because, well, I realized I need a protective case for my new tablet. I was checking a few sites out online, and knew what to look for and how much it would cost, but at Bic Camera they only had a case for an Acer 500, not 700, and it was much more expensive than the ones online, so I didn’t buy any. Same for the SD cards, just too damn expensive,.

While I was here I couldn’t go home without visiting the local Book Off to get more discount manga – yay~ I really like this store, because there is someone around the area who brings kinda recent stuff in as well, which is great for me. Sure I did leave there some stuff I wasn’t sure about, but oh well, you can’t buy the whole store. There will be more chances in future. By the time I got out it was very late and my feet hurt like hell. Having my pass I took a bus even back to the Kyoto Station, and then I got home very tired but satisfied at the same time.

And you know what, late in the night there was an anime oriented quiz show running on the TV! It was great, and I wanted to watch it through the end, but I slept in ;_; I was so tired I don’t even remember on which channel it was, so I still have no idea if it was a special or they regularly have that. As for the questions, there were some very easy ones as well, but also some tricky or about details you don’t even care about, but it was fun. Would be great to see such shows in future as well~

05/04 Saturday
On Saturday I went to check out two electric stores near my home if they had covers for tablets, and to see how the extension cords would be like. Well, my main reason for not buying one so far isn’t even the price but the fact that all of them seem to be limited to 1500 W, and I wasn’t sure it would be enough. There is an Edi-On at Shuugakuin and at Takaragaike as well, but none of them had anything I needed.

I went around a lot all in vain, but okay, I went shopping for food too, and in the end I headed once again for the Book Off – cause, when to buy if not during discount time?! Now I was going for old stuff and bunkobons, and when I thought I would get over this day smoothly, I discovered they have the whole Versailles no Bara series in a great condition! It was the kanzenban edition I wanted – huge and with color pages, and I was already planning to buy them anew, but there I thought, heck, if I don’t get this now, so I did. I saved a lot, the books look great – I’m all around satisfied, and that’s how the second day of manga shopping ended ^__^

  1. Your new header with the flowers is gorgeous. *__*

    I agree Sumikko gurashi is adorable. ^^ It didn’t catch my attention the previous time I was in Japan, but I’ve since discovered it via the San-X website (I tend to alternate between San-X wallpapers on my work computer).

    I’m so envious about the Seika library magazine collection. XD It’d be so convenient to be able to check them out from a library, because sometimes you really want to read just that one chapter or two, instead of buying the whole thing…

    • The acacia were so beautiful~ Too bad they are gone already… However now the Hydrangea are starting to bloom! I need to check them out this week too, so I won’t miss the gorgeous flowers *__* Actually I always have to think of the Hydrangea story in xxxHolic, when I see these flowers, so it’s giving me shivers sometimes, but they are beautiful nonetheless :D

      It’s so hard to resist all the cuteness in Japan. Just today I have been in a shop with Rilakkuma, Kutsushita Nyanko and other San-X goods – awwww~ You feel the urge to get something even if you don’t need anything XD

      The magazine collection is really good! I’m still not quite used to being able to browse magazines freely, but it’s great to just flip through them and accidentally find something of interest – I already had such a moment, I just need to find the time to write about manga in details over at LJ ^^;
